How Do You KNOW That You’re Saved ?

Trusting in Your Decision -vs- Looking for Fruits of Salvation, Alistair Begg

How many times have you heard someone refer to an experience, a date , or a feeling in regards to their salvation ?

It is far too easy to look back to such things in an effort to bring assurance rather than using the New Testament method of EXAMINATION. Jesus said ”  You will know them by their fruits “,  (Matt. 7: 16) and Paul said ” a man should examine himself .”

How you ” felt ” at one point in time , or what you were told to write in the back of your Bible is not relevant.

Watch this short teaching video  and consider your standing before God. Your eternal life is worth it.

    Hey Bob,

It is very true that we are to examine ourselves. But isn’t the Matthew 7 passage (“You will know them by their fruits”) in the context of identifying false prophets? While it is true that ‘good trees bear good fruit,’ I think Jesus is demonstrating how to identify false prophets, not believers.

You are right. I stand corrected.

There are a number of texts which do demonstrate that believers will bear fruit. A great example is that of John 15.8: “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be my disciples.”

Absolutely, and let’s not forget James 4:17, “Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself”
